He goes on about how tranquil and relaxing he finds the island and his deer neighbors. He ends the note with " In excellent health I am looking forward to retirement as a very exciting adventure." Description:
Three letters from Carl Nelson to his friend Martha. In the first letter he is writing and just catching up with her about a mutual friend they had passing. In the second letter he is writing Martha thanking her for a jar of relish that she had sent him. In the top right corner he drew a picture of the jar that she sent. The letter starts by saying "How I can tell you how good the relish really is." He continues to write about how much he enjoyed the relish and how good it was. In the third letter he begins by saying " Dear 'Dickerson'" which is the name of Martha's relish mentioned in the second letter.
