The Hall, Indian River, Maine. Cards picked up by Alfred T. Coulombe when he (age about 14) came to Northeast Harbor one summer with his father and uncles to build some houses the 1920 (about). They came by schooner which they lived in -probably anchored in the Sound or Northeast Harbor.

Description:
Built by Theodore P. Austin, a New York jeweler, who invested in Hancock Country mining. He died before the construction was complete. The 42 room castle was never completed, although Austin's two daughters lived in the one finished room for many years.

Town - Tenants Harbor, Maine Geographic Location - built on "White Head Island, one-half mile west of White Head Light" Longitude & Latitude - USLSS Station #5 - First District Coast Guard Station #6 Station Established - 1874 1874-June 1883 - called Whitehead Island Station. 1883 - called White Head Station 1889 - Repaired and improved.
