|  Far Out Trophy Northeast Harbor Fleet Description: The Far Out Trophy consists of a very tall and heavily ornamented silver vase (2022.03.050.A), with two handles, on a composite wood base (2022.03.050.B). Chased ornament on the vase includes vegetal elements, flowers, leaves, and flowering ivies. A large engraved plaque on the front of the base gives the name of the award, and smaller plaques around the base give the names of the winners. The engraved plaque on the front of the base has an enameled burgee and the text reads: Far Out Pursuit Race Challenge Cup When looking at the front of the trophy, the plaques on the left side read: 2006 Swan 38 Gaylark Kaighn Smith Morris 52 Far Out Hal Kroeger 2007 SP Morris 52 Far Out Hal Kroeger NS Farr 44 Weather Gauge Stockton Smith 2008 SP Morris 52 Far Out Hal Kroeger NS J100 Tern Robert L. There are two drawers in the base, each of which originally had two drop pulls. This settee now (2023) has one handle (left) on the right drawer and none on the left. The blue upholstery on the seat and back is stained, and the wooden base shows sign of extensive wear. This settee is one of two and these appear in early photographs of the Fleet House. These are identical to a pair of lights used as ceiling fixtures inside the north door. Two of these lights are painted blue, and two are painted red. When facing the windows, the red lights are closer to the viewer, and the blue lights are closer to the exterior (northern) wall. These lights are accessioned in a clockwise order starting on the left, with the red light (2022X.02.043.A). The names of winners are engraved on metal plates screwed into the wood. The first plaque (2022X.03.031.A) consists of a varnished mahogany with 20 brass plaques. The second plaque (2022X.03.031.B) consists of a varnished mahogany board with space for 48 brass plaques. NEILSON, JR. Northeast Harbor Fleet Commodore 1951 - 1955-1956 - 1976 Treasurer 1959-1967 Life is Eternal by John Masefield I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side spreads her white sails to them morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength and I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says, "There! She is gone." Gone where? Gone from my sight - that is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side, and just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her; and just at the moment when someone at my side says, "There!
