Description: Three real photo postcards of Bear Island Lighthouse affixed to a repurposed envelope. On all of the postcards the lighthouse is identified using blue ink. One postcard bears the additional inscription: "Our view from the point." The backside of this paper was at one time the exterior of envelope sent on June 4, 1945. The Briars was built in 1881 and was designed by architect William Ralph Emerson. The original owner was J. Montgomery Sears, but it was later owned by Evalyn Walsh McLean.

Ralph Emerson and built in 1887-1887. First owner was Dr. Horace Jayne.
