| Letter from Jacob William Carroll to Mr. Clark Southwest Harbor Public Library Description: This letter was written to Mr. Clark in 1865, while Jacob was at sea, five years before his marriage. The letter says: Philadelphia, Dec 23/65 Mr. Clark Sir What money you have for me from the Schr [Schooner?] please pay it over toward my Taxes. I am loading general cargo for Savannah. I got a fair Freight, but business is very dull & I shall be a long time loading. Coal to Boston is $3.00 & very scarce. There is a great deal of ice in the river. I am afraid it will close before I get out. Res. yours J.W. Carroll [show more] |
