Description:
Donor Information “This is a milk strainer. The 40 quart can lid was removed and the milk strainer placed in the opening. A soft cotton disk pad was then placed in it. A spring wire ring applied to hold it in place. Each time the dairy man poured milk into the strainer, little bits of chaff or other foreign dust particles which might have dropped in the pail would be filtered out.”

Handmade and carved. Four legs in bell shape. Stand cracking where nailed to music holder. Slides up and down. Donor info - came into Wiggin family for “Aunt Carrie Wiggin’s” music lessons when she was a small girl in the 1870s. Stand came from Storer house in Pretty Marsh and had been in their attic for many years.

They were often made for young ladies by their betrothed and were used for preparing their trousseau. Has 4 legs, 15" box, 12" stool and green yarn attached. Includes 42" stick with eye.
