Collection of photographs given by Lewis Hopkins' wife, Onalee Warren Hopkins. She and Lewis raised several children and lived near the McKinley Cemetery in Bass Harbor. They also operated a small store and ice cream stand there for several years. The collection consists mostly of photos of family and friends.

Lila Sawyer donated two old photo albums to the Historical Society through Chuck Liebow in 2017. These photos seem to have been collected by her cousin Harvey Melvin Sawyer and his wife, Charlotte Turner Sawyer. Charlotte's family lived in Sullivan, Maine and operated a large nursing home there for many years where the school administration building is now located on Rt. 1. Lila's grandfather and Harvey's grandfather were brothers. There are many old unidentified photos, as well as duplicates, photos of unknown people or places, and uncatalogued photos included in the collection. [show more]

12" round overall; 9" round, thick glass mirror with a metal surround, florett and leaves pattern. Glass is bneveled to sides at 8" mark. Back has 9" metal holding section with a swivel base attached. Base 3.5"w, 5"h, in shape of yoke with screw fitting at top, and thumbscrews on either side to attach mirror. From this point circumference gradually decreases to opening. Opening of 1.87 inches. Attached to lid is cast iron insert, base 1.5 inches diameter, height , 2.5 inches, opening 1.5 inches.
