Description: Glass bottle with label, paregoric, by Maurice Baker & Company, Portland, Maine. Embossed on the glass is Baker's Pure Extracts, 2 oz. cork stopper
Description: Tin spice storage box, containing 6 round canisters with spices in them. Hinged metal box with carrying handle on top. Hinges cut into lid part of box lip removed. Lock closure on front (no lock), soldered to front of box. Painted black with gold decoration on front and two sides. Top where handle is is raised (stamped out/up portion approximately 5.25" x 8." Handle riveted to top. Six small containers with lids, painted black with and labeled on tops cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, allspice and mace.- worn and barely readable on the last can. Description: Handmade lobster boat model, radar antenna on roof, pot/trap hauler and davit. White with buff/yellow trim, copper bottom, 2 cleats bow and stern, chock at bow. Interior color tan and white. Metal steering wheel. 2 gear shifts.
Description: Square box, John Middleton fine tobaccos since 1856, club mixture. One side: has more imported Latakia than other blends retailing at such a moderate price. Description: Clear glass medicine bottle, embossed on bottle R.J. Lemont, M.D., Southwest and Northeast Harbors, ME. Lemont was a doctor and druggist in Southwest Harbor in the 1800s.
Description: Metal instrument for removing jars of canned food from hot waater bath. Found in Trask house attic at end of Bernard Road; probably belonged to Vesta (Mrs. Freeman) Gott. MEtal with wooden handle.
Description: Two pen and ink drawings by Christine Bulmer Gilley, in weathered wooden lath frames; one of a lighthouse with a stone wall, field, building and mountains in the background, one of a lobster fisherman aboard a lobster boat hauling a trap. Description: Bent nail fastener from the remains of a vessel in Seal Cove at mouth of outlet from Seal Cove Pond. Fastener has square shaft. Vessel identified as Clara B. Kennard by Muriel T. Davisson and Franklin H. Price. Muriel found a fastener from the same vessel mounted on wood at Seafood Ketch restaurant. On the back the source was identified as the Clara B. Kennard by Jarvis Newman's grandfather (Southwest Harbor resident), as told verbally by Karen Craig (also of Southwest Harbor). Franklin found the vessel in the national ship registry and the dimensions matched. Franklin is a marine archeologist who grew up in Bernard. His report of the archeological dig on the vessel also is held in the THS musdeum. Franklin had this photographed by a marine archeologist/historian in Washington, D.C. [show more]
