States at a meeting held at the home of Mrs. John Allen Somes on June 19th, 1929, the Woman's Club decided to sponsor the Mount Desert Historical Society and find a location for the museum. Decided to invite other Woman's Clubs. Mr John A. Somes offered a building holding the colllection, the former Selectmen's office Discussion of Dr. Kittredge practice.
