This wood and aluminum viewer with two magnifying-glass lenses is a 1901 Underwood & Underwood stereoscope hand-held stereoview card viewer. "Man'f'd by Underwood & Underwood New York; Patented June 11, 1901 Foreign Patents Applied for" stamped into metal base. Stamped into brass flange of wood handle: "Patd June 14, 1881 (or 1891)". Stamped into the metal bracket on the slide mechanism: "Pat June 18, 1907". With a stereoviewing card inserted, images appeared three dimensional.
