Several references to Hollis Smith, believed to be the owner of the scrapbook and who was the postmaster for more than 25 years at the Mt. Desert PO in Somesville. Articles of interest: (1961) Senator Muskie speaking at the bicentennial celebration honoring Abraham Somes with a stone monument at the site where Somes landed in 1761. (1943) The Boston collier Suffolk went down presumably in a gale with its captain and all 43 crew members. Another article (unknown date) talks about a Bar Harbor man who was aboard the Battleship Maine when it was torpedoed in Havava Harbor.
