Co-author Mary Smyth, and her sister were long-time summer residents on Islesford. Their father was Rev. Newman Smyth who built the summer cottage later owned by the McAvoy and Land Families, in the 1940's. The Smyth sisters boarded in Mary Morse's old Stanley houe and "mealed" at Woodlawn
