Description: The Cranberry Club Rooster Division was a local spoof men's club to mirror the elite women’s Cranberry Club. The club house was behind Doc Haydock’s house and also included Arvard Savage, Charlie Rice, and Victor White. They would put on performances of music and ‘interpretive island dances’.
Description: A Christmas card to Lew Stanley. On the front of this card is a drawing of two people on a horse drawn carriage ride. On the inside of the card is a note that says "With best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year." Description: Research, Jessica Duma, 2014-2016 while an Island Institute Fellow at GCIHS which produced an exhibition, presentations, video, and oral history recordings. Historical and modern day materials pertaining to Duma's Agricultural Heritage of the Cranberry Isles fellowship focusing on farming, agriculture, apples, the Island Ecology project, farm stand, and more in the Town of Cranberry Isles from 19th century to present. Duma worked with mentor Todd Little-Siebold (College of the Atlantic) and used GCIHS and other local historical collections to produce an exhibition, gather oral histories, and record videos of her experiences and research while residing on Great Cranberry Island as a two-year fellow and then served as part-time manager of GCIHS and part-time manager for the CIRT (affordable housing) program for the last year. Description: Interview Transcript from an interview with Richard 'Chuddy' Alley. The interview was recorded in the 2000's (exact year unknown) by Jessi Duma and Jenny Matthews, who both lived on the island for a number of years. Chuddy came to GCI as a young boy, and recounts many memories of Great Cranberry in the early to mid 20th century. He talks about agriculture and fishing extensively with Jessi. He moved over to Islesford and his son Ricky Alley speaks about fishing with a fish trap, and Pursing. Jessi was a Cranberry Island Fellow and became the general manager for GCIHS for a few years. This letter says " I have retired and moved from Boston to this island of unique design located just off the coast of Mt. Desert Island, Maine." He goes on about how tranquil and relaxing he finds the island and his deer neighbors. He ends the note with " In excellent health I am looking forward to retirement as a very exciting adventure." Description: Three letters from Carl Nelson to his friend Martha. In the first letter he is writing and just catching up with her about a mutual friend they had passing. In the second letter he is writing Martha thanking her for a jar of relish that she had sent him. In the top right corner he drew a picture of the jar that she sent. The letter starts by saying "How I can tell you how good the relish really is." He continues to write about how much he enjoyed the relish and how good it was. In the third letter he begins by saying " Dear 'Dickerson'" which is the name of Martha's relish mentioned in the second letter.
