Description:
Mount Desert house taken from across road. Two black horses with carriage in front of house, one man seated in carriage. Crowd of people out front. Woman and man in doorway, woman and two children standing on steps, three men standing and one seated. Large flagpole to left with “Mt. Desert House, 1888” sign on it. Picket fence running along right side of lawn. Most shutters are open, except for two windows in middle nearest chimney. This print has been attributed to W.H. Ballard, but the photo is probably too early for Ballard to have taken it. Also known as Mount Desert Tavern. [show more]

Description:
Boy age 4- 7. Hair parted on right and combed back. Hair slightly wavy. Wears knee-length skirt with dark stockings and black boots. White shirt bloused out over skirt with wide collar and cuffs edged with lace. Placket over blouse with buttons on each side. Dark floppy bow tie. Stands on floral patterned carpet with hand on back of chair.
