Surf Striking Rocks
Mount Desert Island Historical Society
Description:
Print of W.H. Ballard photograph (stamped and marked by hand as #248-D) Surf is striking rocks extending into the ocean. Relatively flat land on the horizon. Photo has been glued on cardboard. Susan Finkin, 42 Hyde Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866-3806 ,donated the image to the Monhegan Museum Association. The photo was found in the attic of her aunt, Rita White, who was born on Monhegan in 1913 and lived there most of her life. The Monhegan Association wondered if the photo was of a site on Mount Desert Island. (We don't know, as of March 2010! Charlotte Morrill has not seen a copy in the SWH Public Library collection.)
